Biography

 

 

KV´s Artschool in Gothenburg is supposed to be one of the better "preparation schools" in Sweden and I´m still full of praise for the intense but sofisticated education that I was offered there during the year 1974-75.

However; for several reasons I ended up back home in Varberg and prefered to keep on painting on my own. At a very early stage I found friends that would endure a 21 year old art-student with a lot to learn. Their interest saved me a lot of time that I easily could have wasted and instead opened up pathways into important areas of 20th Century art. Hats off for Eva Braun and Roland Olsson! Who grabed me and threw me right into the wonderful world of Contemporary Culture! and my "old" teacher Kenneth Abrahamsson, who believed in me from the start.

In 1980, Mikael Dolfe wrote his finishing essay "A Couple of Days in the Life of Peter Gustavsson" at the Faculty of Journalism. The University of Gothenburg.
Lasse Johansson made a TV-documentary "A Portrait of Peter Gustavsson" in 1994

During the years I have also been showing my work at other occasions; at minor shows ( hospitals, club-localities etc.) and together with fellow artist, mainly with friends from the Varberg Artist Society; being a member of the board and chairman in that organisation for a number of years. I´m also a member of the Gothenburg Artist Society. At times, I have been working with projects concerning history, theatre and other cultural events and couple of years ago I illustrated an issue of Franz Kafka´s last novella; Der Bau. My enthusiasm also carries me far into music, film, photography etc. If you want to read about that;
