Photographic Art

Photographic Art My attention to this media, started out just as early as everything else. My father owned a lovely Zeiss Ikon camera and we frequently had slideshows in our home. I soon was fascinated by the images; small and neverchanging worlds of light within themselves. At the age of 6 I took a few shots with the Zeiss and was at sometime later given the first Kodak Instamatic to see daylight in this country.

However, I was never really satisfied with those images and after a short spell with the Zeiss Ikon, I bought my a Praktica Nova IIB…which I soon traded for the Super TL model.

At artschool I was encouraged to go on with my photography and bought myself the Roll Royce of 35 mm cameras; a Nikon F2 Photomic, which is the one I use up to this day.

When I was nine; a friends big brother taught me the magic of B&W development…he had visited the local policestation with his schoolmates and was fascinated seeing some "constables" processing images of criminals ( yes, this is true..) . Deep down in the innermost sanctum of the family´s cellar he recreated that magic moment for me; the wizzardry of making a part of the world grow out of a white nothingness.

Then I borrowed the whole set of equipment from an old ( 25??) guy living next door…a very kind soul, who always made me listen parts of his vast collection of country vinyl before he let me of the hook. No need to say, I soon bought my own gear. Hank Williams doesn´t tick for me I´m afraid.

In 1984, I had the great pleasure to take part of Ansel Adams original copies at a show in Yosemite. California. Wonderous images, not to speak of the craft!

These days, I rarely find the time for b&w work and mostly limit myself to slides. It´s those images you basically will find here; images from suites such as: Sketches of Water and Ice, Somnium Umbrae, Stella Maris and Specks & Spots.

Be my Guest and visit yet another World of imagery!
