Poetry
During a visit to Visby. Gotland the wonderoud summer of 1971; I had the pleasure
to meet and learn to know the author Thor Trolin. He was a the time a middleaged
man and I was flattered by his attention and willingness to discuss a vast number
of subjects with me.
Oddly enough; our first encounter was alongside an exhibition case at Fornsalen
( Ancient Hall ), both of us looking at the very earthly remains of a woman who
once graced this earth. A skeleton.
From then on we spent our days in pleasant conversation; leisurely strolling
around the beautiful city; so full of history and beauty.
Later on that year, Thor read my poems and found them promising, but way to romantic and "overwraught". I grew a couple of years from that; and started to read more poetry and to take a better look at the everyday surroundings, finding inspiration in situations or objects nearby.
Then I found a number of books that came to mean a lot to me; works by M.A Asturias, Gary Snyder, Robert Bly and not the least Tomas Tranströmer. Suddenly I realised how intricate and wonderful methaphors can be.
At The Cultural Days of Varberg ( which I arranged together with artist Eva Braun and composer Roland Olsson ) I had the honour to meet Tomas Tranströmer and to have my poems criticized by him. "It´s very promising" he said, "but work with it for a couple of years more..". That was 24 years ago…so, it´s about time now to publish something.
So…..in a reasonably near future, you´ll be able to find a number of translated poems here.
