Other Projects

Besides painting and occasionaly some sculpturing, graphics and land art, my enthusiasm has carried me a little bit everywhere.
Often into related projects in connection with for instance; music, litterature, film, theatre and history, but also resulting in excursions into the realms of natural science.

Being perhaps a problem in the past, this variety is today an asset and constant source of inspiration: ideas come to me on a daily basis. Life has never been so rewarding.

So....where to begin ( this is perhaps a turnaround for the feebleminded..turn back to GO ). That I between 1972 - 1982 ended up playing guitars and singing in a couple of different folk and rockbands, was not a great suprise to me and I could probably have stayed in that world for good if the right vibes had been there at the right time. All these years, I´ve been writing songs and even some longer more progressive suites. In a very near future, this will result in an album to be recorded in old bandmate Thomas Brixmar´s studio. ( another friend from those days; Olle Olsson, is helping me out with this website! ) A live album by our once upon a time rock´n roll outfit Freewind , will be released this spring. More are to come; I immensely enjoy working with records and my collection of old vinyls is growing by the day.

I´ve also written texts for modern composer Roland Olsson. In 1978 "A Crows Night" came into being and more recently we have planned a series of almost opera-related works based on three of the great Christian mysteries: The Creation, Golgata and The Final Judgement.

Words have always been coming my way…since I thought myself to read at the age of six (I desperately wanted to able to read Enid Blytons books by myself..) One summer - I think I was seventeen - I stumbled upon two collections of poems that changed my life: one with poems by Miguel Angel Asturias and the other poems by Tomas Tranströmer and Robert Bly. A couple of years later - in connection to a festival " The Cultural Days of Varberg" ( arranged by Roland Olsson, Eva Braun, a wonderful painter and avantgardist, and me) I had the privilige to meet Tomas Tranströmer and have his opinion of my poetry.

Today, numerous projects are waiting for my attention out in "Kajutan" a small cabin in the garden ..a vessel and vehicle full of dreams yet to be fulfilled. The one I´m most anxious to finish, is a vast collection of poems, that originally were an atempt to memorize my childhood, but now have grown to become almost a metaphysical adventure; inhabited by characters that sometimes even surprise me with their sudden apperance…

Patience is a virtue they say, but I will not trouble you any further ( at least for now ) with ideas I haven´t mentioned here.
Instead; why don´t you drop me a line ? maybe we can do something together or just have a chat now and then.

Greetings!

Peter Gustavsson
